What a conversion funnel actually is
A funnel is the sequence of steps a visitor takes on the way to completing a goal. In the case of a purchase, this may also be referred to a sa sales funnel. While a purchase is always a type of conversion, you can define a conversion—and consequently conversion funnel—as any key action you want visitors to complete, and does not have to be a type of purchase or other financial transaction.
Examples of non-purchase related conversions can include form submissions, account creations, and email signups—among other actions.
